Facebook bought Gowalla

Facebook haven't commented on it, but according to CNN they have acquired location sharing service Gowalla, which recently tried to recreate itself as travel guide site after loosing against Foursquare.

Employees of the company will move to Palo Alto and work on Facebook's Timeline feature, which was introduced at the F8 conference months ago, but still only available for developers (or curious users like me who pretend to be a developer).

According to the article, Facebook has a habit of buying promising startups and killing them off to deploy their developers on other projects. FB aims to make about 20 purchases in 2011, up from 10 last year.
